For those who understand the mathematics of probability, the concept of trend betting can seem like an un likely place to find a method or system to win at sports betting. In football where trends come fast and furious, a cautious player might discount them becuase of the small sample (16 game) pool. In basketball though there is, at least to this author a certain value in understanding how teams perform in set situations across a period of time.

The recently published 11th edition of Trends Made Easy NBA by Davler Sports is, according to Howard Schwartz of the Gambler's Book Club, one of the most popular annual publications on basketball which " assist the short-cut seeking handicapper".

Schwartz in a recently published CasinoGaming.com column reports: "the book is divided into two sections. The first section is arranged by team. Let’s take the Indiana Pacers. Since 1989, the Pacers have achieved a 16-6 record against Denver (against the spread) and are 7-1 against Boston since 1997. If you’re a totals bettor, you’ll be interested to know that against Portland at Indiana, the Pacers have been involved in nine games since 1991 and eight of the contests wound up in the under column."
